If you have a sharp look on the facts in Germany, men could be depressed by them. Much more women than men are actually finishing an academical education with a Bachelors or a Masters degree in tendence with better results, especially in business administration, economics or law studies - quota increasing. If you look sharper on what is increasingly counting in modern management, the "female" strengths as networking, multitasking capabilities and social competence are becoming more and more essential for entrepreneurial sucess. So it should be logical to get more female leadership and competence in the highest boards of management. But in reality there are too much barricades due to "ancient role understanding" and less opportunities for women (and men!) to allow a professional carreer and having (and living) a family live. For my point of view a quota is driving forward the need for new "career models" including a change of our actual business models. For that, we do not only need a quota for "women in management", I also see the need to make "beeing an engaged father" not a career breaker. A view to the nordic countries may give a feeling how the story could develop.

I have just attended an international congress of Andean countries in which the the laws of women´s quotas were discussed. I was surprised to find that during the two days not once the question came up as to whether the women´s quota should or should not exist. It seems that among Latin American feminists it is no longer a question of yes or no, but of how to achieve that these quotas are implemented. Reading this article made me see that the discussion about quotas in Germany has taken on a new form, too. Very interesting! Thank you!
